Trip planning
Plan your visit to the Rarău area
Practical information on access, season, equipment, routes, and mountain safety in the Rarău Massif.
The Rarău Massif can be explored in several ways: hiking, cycling, driving, or combinations of these. Skywalk Rarău – Piatra Șoimului is the central point of the experience, but the visit becomes richer when it includes natural landmarks, practical stops, and, if you wish, religious sites in the area.
Before setting out, check the weather forecast, trail conditions, and access status. Mountain terrain may include slopes, slippery surfaces, or reduced visibility in fog, rain, snow, or ice.
Choose a route suited to your group: four recommended routes connect places into concrete experiences — from natural hikes to panoramic driving routes on Transrarău.
For scenic driving, Transrarău and Popas Transrarău are useful practical stops. For hiking, routes toward Cheile Moara Dracului, Popii Rarăului, Pietrele Doamnei, or Rarău Peak require proper equipment and extra time.
In cold seasons or unfavourable weather, adapt your plan: some sections may become difficult or require mountain experience. Platform information is orientational — also check official field sources.
Keep your phone charged, stay on marked trails, and tell someone about your chosen route, especially for longer hikes. For mountain safety: Salvamont Suceava - 0745 313 052, urgențe - 112.
